The Emerald Spire Superdungeon
The start of the adventure takes place in a small town named Kassen. Every autumn, a few of the townsfolk make a pilgimage to the Crypt of the Everflame to light a lantern from the ever-burning flame within it and bring it back to town, where it is preserved all winter, a symbol of the town’s resiliance. Most years, the town mayor and a group of dignitaries perform this quest. Every few years, however, a handful of younger townsfolk are given the honor of lighting the lantern. Many see this as a passage into adulthood, a taste of adventure before settling down to work and marriage.
Each character should have some sort of tie to the town. The characters can be residents, have family/friends in town, etc. Each class out of the Core Rulebook has a Mentor from the town that could have been guiding the PC in the ways of their profession.
